At Stroud:

Stroud School of Art has excellent facilities, in particular Ceramics, Printmaking and Photography. There is a tradition of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture at the School. The area is famous for its historic Textile industry. Stroud and the surrounds have several arts festivals and a thriving arts and café culture. There is a keen interest in environmental issues in the local community.

A comprehensive art library, built up over many years in the School of Art, supports research and the lecture/ seminar series.

The School has developed professional relationships with other organisations. Local Museum in the Park, for example, hosts various college exhibitions and the Art School reciprocates with an annual professional fundraising event for the museum's Walled Garden Project, which students can take part in. The current academic team has a particular interest in Artist's Books. The college Glass Box Gallery provides a first step to exhibiting off-site.

What makes this course special is a dedicated team of experienced tutors and technicians who place a strong emphasis on student-centred learning, and a questioning, critical and outward facing approach to what making art might be the 21st century.
