We are offering a unique course delivering the Foundation Degree in an intensive 2 year programme. This programme offers opportunities for students in the practical and academic understanding of the key areas of Dance.

Course entry requirements

Drama and/or Dance at AS/A2 Level, BTEC National Diploma in Dance/Drama, AVCE in Performing Arts. An overall Merit grade will be expected. Students without a formal qualification will be considered individually.

Course detail

We are offering a unique course delivering the HND in an intensive 2 year programme. This programme offers opportunities for students in the practical and academic understanding of the key areas of Dance. The course considers and explores the contemporary developments of its’ genres, styles, practitioners and performance techniques. The course has a strong emphasis on a practical approach to studying this area and students participate in a wide variety of productions and performance projects. This programme guides learners through the complete creative process of putting on a show and touring it professionally. There are core modules and specialist units which may cover: choreography, contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet and urban.

There is a materials fee payable which will cover the cost of theatre visits, costume, master class and venue hire.

Progression

It is expected that students from this course will be suitably prepared for entry to employment within the creative industries. Alternatively students can progress to an Honours year at university or entry to dance/drama school.
