Course Description
This course is designed for those carers who have completed the apprenticeship and are now taking on added responsibilities within their job role. You will need to be employed within a care setting, ideally in a supervisory role, as most of the training will happen within the workplace.

What will I study?
• L3 NVQ Diploma in Health & Social Care to include:
- Communication
- Equality and inclusion
- Promote and implement health and safety
- Promote good practice handling information
- Implement the principles of duty of care, safe guarding and protection
- Engage in personal development

• L3 Certificate in Working in the Health Sector

• Functional skills - English and Maths where applicable

What do I need to join?
There are no specific entry requirements. You must, however, be employed in a suitable role for at least 30 hours per week. All candidates undertake a thorough initial assessment and need to demonstrate an ability to work at Level 3 and be working in a supervisory role.

How long is the course?
The course duration is flexible to meet the needs of the individual and employer. On average the course lasts 18 months.

How will I learn?
The course is delivered in the workplace and combines observations, discussions and assessments.

How will I know how I am doing?
By course work and assignments. You will be allocated an assessor who will work with you to guide you through the award. They will regularly feed back on your progress and work with you to set targets for future work.

Are there any extra costs?
If you are aged 16-18 there are no fees to pay. If you are aged 19 or over your employer may be asked to make a contribution towards the cost of your award.

What can I do next?
Many people progress to full - time employment or higher education (e.g. foundation degree).
