Course Description
This apprenticeship is for people who are working in the plumbing industry and extends the skills developed at Level 2. You will gain industry - recognised qualifications. Training will take place in the workplace and at college.
What will I study?
• L3 NVQ in MES Plumbing (Gas) to include:
- Planning
- Installing
- Commissioning
- Decommissioning
- Service and maintenance of complex plumbing systems & components
• L3 Certificate in Plumbing to include:
- Complex cold water systems
- Domestic hot water and sanitation systems
- Central heating systems
- Domestic gas supply systems
- Improving business products and services
- Specialist units of choice
• Funtional skills - English and Maths
What do I need to join?
4 GCSEs at grades A-C, preferably in Maths, English, Science and Design & Technology and/ or completed Level 2 Apprenticeship in Plumbing
Employed in a gas company for at least 30 hours per week
How long is the course?
1 year.
How will I learn?
Work-based with practical and theory lessons when in college.
How will I know how I am doing?
Coursework, tests, completion of portfolio and assessment in the workplace for NVQ. You will also have a training advisor who
will complete regular reviews with you and your employer.
Are there any extra costs?
If you are aged 16-18 there are no fees to pay. If you are aged 19 or over your employer may be asked to make a
contribution towards the cost of your award.
What can I do next?
Higher education, university or progress onto ACS Gas Card.
What are my career opportunities?
Be employed as a qualified plumber and heating engineer, or you may decide to start your own business.
