Course Description
This course combines both practical and knowledge-based skills. You will need to be working in a childcare setting for at least 30 hours per week as the majority of the course is delivered within the workplace. The apprenticeship is ideal if you wish to further your career within this growing sector
What will I study?
• L2 NVQ Certificate in Children & Young People’s Workforce to include:
- Communication
- Personal development
- Equality and inclusion
- Safeguarding and welfare
- Support positive behaviour and environments
- Paediatric emergency first aid
- Manage paediatric illness and injury
• Functional skills - English and Maths where applicable
What do I need to join?
There are no specific entry requirements. You must, however, be employed in a suitable role for at least 30 hours per week. All candidates undertake a thorough initial assessment and need to demonstrate an ability to work at Level 2.
How long is the course?
The course duration is flexible to meet the needs of the individual and employer. On average the course lasts 12-18 months.
How will I learn?
The course is delivered in the workplace and combines observations and assessments.
How will I know how I am doing?
You will be allocated an assessor who will work with you to guide you through the award. They will regularly feed back on your progress and work with you to set targets for future work.
Are there any extra costs?
If you are aged 16-18 there are no fees to pay. If you are aged 19 or over your employer may be asked to make a contribution towards the cost of your award.
What can I do next?
Many people progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship in CYPW once they have completed their apprenticeship.
