Course Description
This course is aimed at 16-24 year olds and is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required as a bricklayer.

• Information, quantities and communicating
• Building methods and construction technology
• Basic block laying, how to cut concrete and lightweight blocks correctly
• Manual handling
• Basic cavity walling
• Bonding
• Setting out
• Technical information
• Functional skills - English

What do I need to join?
There are no specific entry requirements though we do like to meet you beforehand for an interview.

How long is the course?
The course is 1 year with attendance 2.5 days a week.

How will I learn?
The majority of time will be spent learning in the workshop. Classroom study will be interactive and informative.

How will I know how I am doing?
Through regular feedback and one-to-one reviews with your tutor. You will be assessed continually through practical tasks and activities.

Are there any extra costs?
Materials fees will be required at enrolment. Financial support is available in certain circumstances. Contact Customer Services for further information. You will be asked to provide your own safety boots to wear in the workshop.

What can I do next?
After successful completion you can progress onto a Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.

What are my career opportunities?
Once you are qualified you may decide to start your own business or progress into a specialist field.
