Course Description
Units will include: Fitness Testing and Training, Practical Sport or Outdoor and Adventurous Activities and Anatomy and Physiology for Sport. Students may also study: Injury In Sport, Sport Development, Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness and other optional Units. The course also offers the opportunity to study NCFE Level 2 Certificate In Sports Coaching, CYQ Level 1 Fitness Instruction, and Sports Leaders Award along with a functional skill from English, Maths and IT.

What do I need to join?
Four GCSEs at grade D from the following list: Science, PE, English, Maths; a Pass profile in Foundation Learning (Sport), together with achievement of functional skills English.
How long is the course?
1 Year.
How will I learn?
Lectures will be a good mixture of theory and practical-based sessions. Students will not only achieve this qualification but also afunctional skills qualification in English, Maths and IT.
How will I know how I am doing?
There will regular assessments with both verbal and written feedback to ensure all students achieve their maximum potential.
Are there any extra costs?
Materials fee £100 (approximately).
What can I do next?
Students with 170 points will be eligible to apply for the Level 3 Diploma Sport, those with 190 points will be eligible to apply for the Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport and those with 200 points will be able to apply for the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. Students wishing to progress must have an exemplary record of the following: attendance, punctuality, commitment to study and achievement of appropriate functional skills and have achieved their additional qualifications.
What are my career opportunities?
With a good grade and the functional skills qualifications, students could progress into career roles such as leisure centre assistant or an assistant sports coach.
