Course Description
This programme is for people who are working in the construction industry. You will gain the skills and the qualifications required to further your career in the industry. You will already be employed by a local construction company and training will take place in the workplace and at college.
What will I study?
• L2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations to include:
- General workplace safety
- Conform to efficient work practices
- Move and handle resources
- Erect masonry structures
- Set out masonry structures
• L2 Technical Certificate / Diploma in bricklaying
• Employment rights and responsibilities
• Functional skills - English and Maths
What do I need to join?
A good standard of general education (generally 3 GCSEs at grades D or above, to include Maths and English).
How long is the course?
2 years. You will work with your employer and will attend college two days a week.
How will I learn?
The apprenticeship is undertaken both in college and in the workplace through practical work and assignments.
How will I know how I am doing?
Coursework, tests, completion of portfolio and assessment in the workplace for NVQ. A training advisor will complete
regular reviews with you and your employer.
Are there any extra costs?
If you are aged 16-18 there are no fees to pay. If you are aged 19 or over your employer may be asked to make a contribution towards the cost of your award. Employers may be eligible for additional training grants to support you and your apprenticeship.
