Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeship Trowel Occupations

This programme is for people who are working in the construction industry and extends the skills developed at Level 2. You will gain the skills and qualifications required for a career in the industry. Training will take place in the workplace and at college.

What will I study?
• L3 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations to include:
- General workplace safety
- Conform to efficient work practices
- Set out complex masonry structures
- Erect complex masonry structures
- Confirm work activities and resources for the workplace
- Develop and maintain good working relationships
- Confirm occupational methods of work

• L3 Technical Certificate Diploma in Bricklaying

• Employment rights and responsibilities

• Functional skills - English and Maths

What do I need to join?

4 GCSEs at grades A-C preferably in Maths, English, Science and Design & Technology and / or completed Apprenticeship
in Construction. Employed at least 30 hours a week.

How long is the course?
1 year.

How will I learn?
You will work with your employer and will attend college 2 days a week.

How will I know how I am doing?
Coursework, tests, completion of portfolio and assessment in the workplace for NVQ. Atraining advisor will complete regular reviews with you and your employer.

Are there any extra costs?
If you are aged 16-18 there are no fees to pay. If you are aged 19 or over your employer may be asked to make a contribution towards the cost of your award. Employers may be eligible for additional training grants to support you and your apprenticeship.

What can I do next?
NVQ 3 in Heritage Skills.

What are my career opportunities?
Be employed as a qualified bricklayer, progress into a specialist field, or you may decide to start your own business.
