How is the course assessed?

PROPOSED COURSE FORMAT. Taught sessions followed by research, observations, implementing theories, work based investigations. Tutorials to be arranged, but planned for every fourth week.

Year 1 Modules

MANDATORY UNITS.UNIT 1. Enabling learning and assessment: level 4- 15 credits.One written assignment; one observation on giving feedback. UNIT 2. Theories and principles for planning and enabling learning: level 4-15 credits.One presentation on the application of learning theories in your workplace.One tutorial to specifically assess the minimum core in your own practice. UNIT 3. Continuing personal and professional Development: Level 5- 15 credits.Personal development journal.Research different models of EVALUATING your own role and responsibilities.One presentation to justify your own teaching style and how you evaluate, reflect and improve your practice. UNIT 4. Curriculum development for inclusive practice. Level 5- 15 credits.One assignment: research a range of curriculum models and analyse your own curriculum in meeting the needs of learners.Compare two methods of curriculum delivery and evaluate their effectiveness.UNIT 5. Wider professional practice. Level 5- 15 credits.One assignment: to produce a report on analysing your role and responsibilities within your context and in relation to national standards, awarding bodies and your organisation. OPTIONAL UNIT 1. Action Research Planning. Level 5- 15 creditsThis unit enables you to research your own field, look at key issues and implement an Action Research project.          OPTIONAL UNIT 2. Choice.There will be a choice of several options and you will be able to decide which one best suits your context. The assignment for this will then be negotiated together with assessment criteria; in short a “thesis” type unit.Equality and diversity. Level 4- 6 credits. Delivering employability skills. Level 4-6 credits. Specialist delivery techniques. Level 4-6 credits.This may be considered a “top-up” unit for those completing this unit on CTLLS. Developing and managing resources in the Lifelong Learning sector. Level 4- 15 credits.This is a recommended unit as it is usually easy to find evidence from existing practice. Teaching a specialist subject. Level 5- 15credits.
