Work placement turns into dream job for SGS student

Charlie Beard, who recently completed his work placement at Blade Seat in Gloucester, impressed staff at the dealership so much he has been offered a part time job.

Charlie, who is a level 3 business student, now works each Saturday assisting the sales team, updating car displays with special offers and price changes, lining cars up on the forecourt and taking customers out on test drives.

Speaking of his experience, Charlie said: “My work placement was a brilliant opportunity for me to experience an industry that I wanted to explore as a potential career path. It’s amazing that my placement actually helped me land a job in this sector. I’m really happy.”

Karen Colley, Sales Manager at Blade Seat said: “Charlie’s work experience was like a week long interview. There was no job necessarily, but we created one for Charlie as we saw so much potential in him and knew he would fit into our business.”

The experience was organised through SGS College’s work placement team, who arrange placements for all learners on a full-time study programme so that they can explore possible career interests and enjoy varied learning experiences during their time at college.

Charlotte Niedzwiecki, Work Placement Coach at the SGS Stroud Campus comments: “This is a brilliant example of a successful placement. The College works incredibly hard to ensure each full-time learner participates in work experience. I’m delighted to see that Charlie’s placement has turned into a part time job.”
