Inspiring new apprentices at Gloucestershire SkillFest

Young people and their parents as well as employers interested in apprenticeships will be able to meet and chat to our business training team at the first Gloucestershire Skillsfest next month. The event at Gloucester Rugby Club will be held on 9 February, during National Apprenticeship Week, and follows last year's successful Apprenticeship Jobs Fair.

Employment Minister Chris Grayling is expected to attend, along with employers, training providers and apprenticeship experts for a packed one-day programme of events and talks. ‘Have a Go’ is an area of the exhibition which will allow visitors to try their hand at a variety of different jobs as well as speak to employers and training providers in that specific field. Stands are yet to be confirmed but likely to include hairdressing, bricklaying, plastering, engineering, electrical, ICT as well as get some on- to-one advice on apprenticeships and job seeking.

There will also be opportunities throughout the day to 'Meet the Apprentice' and a briefing aimed at parents/carers to help them understand more about apprenticeships.

The Gloucestershire Skillsfest has been organised by a collaboration of local businesses, training providers, GFirst and the National Apprenticeship Service.
