A free two-week programme with a successful track record in helping unemployed adults stand out in the job market is coming to Stroud College with 'Suited, Booted and Recruited' starting on 20 February.
The programme is for people over the age 19 years and over who are not in current employment. Subjects studied during the two weeks include first aid, customer service, sales and employability skills. The course also focuses on the vital skills needed during the recruitment process and at interview, including CV writing, interview techniques, body language, presentation skills and how to best sell yourself.
The finale of the course is for students to be kitted out with a smart new suit and shoes, ready for interviews with local employers which take place on the last day.
The two-week programme will be held at Forest Green Rovers, and transport is being arranged to take students to and from Stroud campus. A 'meet and greet' event on 10 Feb - at Stroud campus - is the chance for applicants to come along to meet the team, pose any questions they may have, observe video footage from the previous courses and sit a pre-assessment: this is so that our teaching team can assess learning styles, recognise any support issues and understand ability levels.
'Suited, Booted, Recruited' was first created by Filton College in September 2011, where it has been running two-week programmes successfully for 16-18 year olds and also for 19+ years, with an average conversion rate of 1 in 10 students going into employment. The programme has attracted government interest, and a case study report has been submitted to the Skills Funding Agency.
