There is an assessment at the end of the module, this takes place when both yourself and the trainer feel you have acquired the necessary knowledge, and is arranged at a time suitable to you.
The course will be delivered in one of Stroud College’s Learn IT Centres, which are situated in Stroud and Dursley. You will be provided with a learning manual to work through at your own pace. There will be experienced trainers always on hand to assist you if you have any difficulties.
1. To make the user aware of the security risks associated with computer use, both at work and at home.
2. To familiarise the user with ways of protecting against such risks.
3. Be aware of the threats made to systems performance and how to protect against those threats.
4. Understand the importance of information security and how to protect that information.
5. Be aware of the risks associated with network use, Bluetooth and portable devices and understand the measures taken to protect against them.
6. Understand the importance of following the guidelines and procedures for the secure use of IT.
7. Be aware of the risks to data security and know how to prevent them.
If you successfully complete this unit you will receive the BCS ECDL Essentials Single Unit Certificate (Level 1)
This unit naturally contributes towards the whole ECDL Essentials qualification, which can achieved by completing the two Fundamentals and Internet & Email units.
