The ECDL Essentials course is for anyone who wants to certify his or her computer skills according to a pan-European industry standard. It is designed to give users a basic introduction to computers with relevant skills in using the basic tools required by today’s user.  If you feel you can use a PC efficiently but can’t prove it to potential employers, this qualification will verify your competence in a format acceptable to employers across the European Community.

How will I know how I am doing?

There is an assessment at the end of each module, this takes place when both yourself and the trainer feel you have acquired the necessary knowledge, and are arranged at a time suitable to you.

How will the course be delivered?

You will be able to study in our Learn IT Centres in Stroud or Dursley at your own convenience and at your own pace, using expertly produced courseware to help you develop your skills in the various modules.

What will I learn?

You are required to demonstrate competence in three modules:

A. IT User Fundamentals in File Management
B. Using Email and Internet
C. Security for IT Users (Theory)

Do I receive a qualification?

On successful completion of all modules, students will receive a British Computer Society ECDL Essentials Certificate to confirm their competence as recognised by businesses across the European Community.

What's next?

You may progress to British Computer Society ECDL Extra Level 2, or Level 2 Cert IT Users (ITQ)
