How will I know how I am doing?

There is an assessment at the end of the module, this takes place when both yourself and the trainer feel you have acquired the necessary knowledge, and is arranged at a time suitable to you.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered in one of Stroud College’s Learn IT Centres, which are situated in Stroud and Dursley. You will be provided with a learning manual to work through at your own pace. There will be experienced trainers always on hand to assist you if you have any difficulties.

What will I learn?

1. Understand what a database is and how it is organized and operated.
2. Create a simple database and view the database content in various modes.
3. Create a table, define and modify fields and their properties; enter and edit data in a table.
4. Sort and filter a table or form; create, modify and run queries to retrieve specific information from a database.
5. Understand what a form is and create a form to enter, modify and delete records and data in records.
6. Create routine reports and prepare outputs ready for distribution.

Do I receive a qualification?

If you successfully complete this unit you will receive the BCS ECDL Extra Single Unit Certificate (Level 2)

What's next?

This unit naturally contributes towards the whole ECDL Extra or Flexiqual qualifications, which can achieved by completing three further modules – one of which must be the mandatory Improving Productivity module.
