How will I know how I am doing?

There is an assessment at the end of the module, this takes place when both yourself and the trainer feel you have acquired the necessary knowledge, and is arranged at a time suitable to you.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered in one of Stroud College’s Learn IT Centres, which are situated in Stroud and Dursley. You will be provided with a learning manual to work through at your own pace. There will be experienced trainers always on hand to assist you if you have any difficulties.

What will I learn?

1. Work with spreadsheets and save them in different file formats.
2. Choose built in options, such as the Help function, within the application to enhance productivity.
3. Enter data into cells and use good practice in creating lists; select, sort, copy, move and delete data.
4. Edit rows and columns in a worksheet; copy, move, delete and appropriately rename worksheets.
5. Create mathematical and logical formulas using standard spreadsheet functions; use good practice in formula creation and be able to recognise error values in formulas
6. Format numbers and text content in a spreadsheet.
7. Choose, create and format charts to communicate information meaningfully.
8. Adjust spreadsheet page settings and check and correct spreadsheet content before finally printing spreadsheets.

Do I receive a qualification?

If you successfully complete this unit you will receive the BCS ECDL Extra Single Unit Certificate (Level 2)

What's next?

This unit naturally contributes towards the whole ECDL Extra or Flexiqual qualifications, which can achieved by completing three further modules – one of which must be the mandatory Improving Productivity module.
