How will I know how I am doing?

You will need to keep a weekly journal about your learning on the course.  There will also be a fairly informal practical skills assessment by the tutor.

Is previous experience necessary?

No

How will the course be delivered?

Led by a tutor, but with lots of work in pairs or threes, trying things out, in a supportive group atmosphere

What will I learn?

Lots!  Useful skills like how to really listen to others, how and when to ask open or closed questions and how to put the core conditions into practice as well as more theoretical things such as what the counselling process involves and a little about different types of counselling.  You may also learn a lot about yourself.

Do I receive a qualification?

No, but on completion of this course you will be able to progress to the level 2 counselling course at SGS Stroud.

What should I bring?

A4 sized paper and a pen, for taking notes.
