Hath yoga is a combination between asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control). Hatha yoga tries to achieve a balance between body and mind.
Regular practice of asanas will enable the practitioner muscle flexibility, bone strength and learn to be more relaxed during stressful situations as well as the non-physical rewards such as the development of will power, concentration and self-withdrawal.
Pranayama is an important part of Hatha Yoga because the yogis of old times believed that the secret to controlling one's mind can be unlocked by controlling one's breath. Breathing in the yogic manner may help to strengthen the respiratory system.
The practice of hatha yoga can help people focus on self-improvement, encouraging them to take the experiences and emotions of their yoga sessions with them into the outside world.
