All students at Stroud College can join the Student Union (SU). Membership is automatic, but students can opt out if they wish. The SU organises a Freshers Fayre, trips (e.g. Alton Towers), events such as the Christmas Party and many other activities throughout the year. The SU is run by students for students and provides a voice for important issues. The day to day running of the SU is carried out by the Executive Committee, which you vote for each year. You are encouraged to become involved in College decision making by working with your SU.
The SU is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS), which represents students nationally and lobbies parliament on student issues. This offers students a huge range of benefits including discounts in various high street stores and restaurants. If you would like to take advantage of these discounts you will need a NUS card. Please note that students under the age of 16 are not eligible for a NUS card. For further information regarding SU activities, please look on the SU notice board which is located in the Refectory.
